Career & Technical Education (CTE)

California Department of Education

A program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers.

In California, CTE is made up of 15 career pathways:

  1. Agriculture and Natural Resources
  2. Arts, Media, & Entertainment
  3. Building & Construction Trades
  4. Business & Finance
  5. Education, Child Development, & Family Services
  6. Energy, Environment, & Utilities
  7. Engineering & Architecture
